De Kempenaer links people, opportunities and ambitions

De Kempenaer and finding the rapport

De Kempenaer always seeks a connection. With our private and our commercial clients. With the city which has been our home for the past 200 years. And with the cultural initiatives which lend colour to our enterprise. We do this in a committed, individual and highly personal manner. All in pursuit of establishing a rapport. Together. We look forward to making your acquaintance.

De Kempenaer is personal

Engaged on a commercial level, but always personal and informal; at De Kempenaer we want you to feel at ease. We attach great importance to lasting relationships. We want to know what drives you and dig deep to get to the heart of your legal issue. Here, you will always have direct contact with the specialist who will represent your interests. Working together towards an effective outcome.

De Kempenaer is transparent

At De Kempenaer you can rely on the knowledge and experience of our specialist lawyers. Your personal adviser represents your interests, coordinates the work and keeps you informed of all relevant developments throughout. But before we start we make clear agreements. About what we are going to do, the planning and the rates. Open and transparent. Because you are a client and not just a case file.

De Kempenaer is modern

De Kempenaer continuously invests in knowledge. Training, development and seminars are a fixed element of our practice. Our lawyers also belong to specialist associations and trade organisations. And because we are in regular personal contact with our customers, we keep on top of any developments and we always know what is going on with our clients.

De Kempenaer - since 1816

De Kempenaer is one of the oldest law firms in the Netherlands. As long ago as 1816 Jacob Mattheus de Kempenaer (1793-1870) set himself up as a lawyer in Arnhem; the start of a notable career.

Jacob was a passionate person and heavily involved in social and political life. He was active as a councillor, a member of the Provincial Council, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, church guardian in the Dutch Reformed Church, a member of the Lower House and State Advocate of Gelderland.

In 1844 he was one of the ‘Negenmannen’ who, under the leadership of statesman Thorbecke, took the initiative for Constitutional Reform. He was part of the Thorbecke Constitution Committee and as Minister of Foreign Affairs played a key role in bringing about constitutional reform.

Committed indeed; he was a presence both on the national stage and in his Arnhem practice. Always close by, approachable and seeking to establish a bond. In this respect, little has changed at De Kempenaer Advocaten in the past 200 years.
